This video will make you feel as bright and cheerful as the, um, extra-special jungle animals most likely feel in this video. For real.
Colombian born artist Federico Uribe makes us reconsider how we relate to our materials: he makes people out of pencils, animals out of shoelaces, and torsos out of plastic forks. His work shows a refreshing attitude towards nature: he doesn’t focus on the problems that everyone is aware of and talking about. Rather, he brings joy, hope, and spirit back into nature. That’s all we’ll say about him, for a description will not do his work justice. You’ll have to watch for yourself.
This video we found on Colossal is a seven minute long interview with Federico Uribe from 2011, documenting his exhibition at the Boca Raton Museum of Art in Florida, The World According to Federico Uribe. The interview was produced and directed by David Marin of Pelicruise Film Group. Enjoy!
For more photos of Uribe’s work, there is fabulous documentation over at Juxtapoz, My Modern Met, Amusing Planet, as well as the original Colossal post.
