ARE MY SUBMISSION IMAGES THE SAME AS WHAT I WOULD PUT IN THE SHOW?
No, your images are an example of what you would put in the show. They could be the same, but do not have to be. By viewing your submission we should get a clear understanding of what your work will look like for the show. Keep your medium consistent unless the images are tightly conceptually linked. If you submit photography examples in your application, we would expect photography to be your medium in the show.
WHAT TYPE OF MEDIUMS DO YOU ACCEPT?
We are open to a diverse range of media. Last show’s mediums included sculpture, print work, photography, painting, and tapestry to name a few. Bare in mind that the work should still be purchasable.
WHAT DOES THE ARTIST SUBMISSION POLICY ACTUALLY MEAN?
Sorry the release sounds a little frightening. It is actually a very standard form. Essentially the release covers us from legal issues that can arise from publicly displaying people’s content. The release does not grant us any right to sell or profit from your work in ANY WAY, nor would we ever try to, we are artists ourselves and greatly respect your rights.
HOW MANY PIECES AM I EXPECTED TO SHOW?
Each artist is encouraged to send two to three ready to hang works. Space permitting, we will hang anywhere between one and three of each artists work.
HOW DOES SHIPPING FOR INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS WORK?
We are looking into getting a shipping sponsor, but as of now each international artist is expected to cover costs for shipment to Vancouver. We will cover the cost to return any unsold work.
DOES THE CHEAPER SHOW TAKE ANY COMMISSION ON ARTWORK SOLD?
For the first time in The Cheaper Show’s history, we will be giving 100% of each art sale back to the artist.
WHEN DO SUBMISSIONS CLOSE AND WHEN ARE ARTISTS ANNOUNCED?
Submissions are closed March 6th and we will make artist annoucements March 28th.
